Trump Using DOJ to Attack ACA

Bit by bit, part by part, the Trump Administration is trying to do piecemeal what it could not do through legislation – destroy the Affordable Care Act.

On June 7th, Jeff Sessions notified Congress that the Department of Justice will not defend a lawsuit asking the courts to strike down key provisions of the ACA. In making this decision, the Attorney General is further politicizing the agency he leads, doing even more damage to the long-standing principle that in a nation of laws, the government’s lawyers – the Department of Justice – must be non-partisan. If this lawsuit succeeds, health insurance companies will once again be free to deny coverage to people with pre-existing conditions, or charge exorbitant rates to the people who most need health coverage. Everyday Americans like you and me will be harmed. Only the insurance companies, and their shareholders, will benefit.

Tom McClintock supports the DOJ’s cruel decision. This is one of the many reasons we oppose Tom McClintock. California’s Fourth District, and this country, deserve better.
