Today, our government, in our name, using our taxpayer dollars, will tear more children from their parent’s arms in furtherance of their harsh immigration policies.
Under the Trump Administration’s new zero-tolerance for immigrants, ICE prosecutes everyone who crosses into the U.S. The families that come – often fleeing violence in unstable parts of Central and South America – are separated and the children placed in detention, sent to foster families or, as Chief of Staff John Kelly dismissively declared, “whatever.” José, the five-year-old boy from Honduras discussed in this New York Times article, likely will be scarred for life because of our government’s decision to treat his family – seeking refuge from the dangers of an unstable and violent country – as criminals.
Tom McClintock supports these cruel tactics. This is one of the many reasons we oppose Tom McClintock. California’s Fourth District, and this country, deserve better.
