The Lives Saved by the ACA

Protect Our Care

As the residents of California’s Fourth District go to the polls to cast their votes, we urge them to focus on the policies that impact their lives. Health insurance is at the top of that list.

A woman whose newborn developed an infection, requiring expensive care. A man with severe Crohn’s Disease, whose health insurance company had taken advantage of a paperwork anomaly to deny him coverage before the ACA guaranteed that coverage. Siblings suffering from lifelong PTSD, substance abuse and other major health problems whose lives were saved by the ACA. A small business owner who would not be able to afford coverage for his employees without the ACA. A mental health care worker in Kentucky who was opposed to the ACA until he saw its life-changing effects – both in the thousands of children and teens who were able to get care because of it, and then in his own life when he decided to start his own business. These are some of the stories on this website, Protect Our Care. These stories, told by real people across the Nation, remind us that an untold number of lives were saved or improved by the ACA. They remind us that the politicians we choose to represent us decide life-and-death questions on a daily basis. They remind us that if we want better laws – laws focused on improving our lives, and ensuring that we have everything we need to protect ourselves and our families – we must elect politicians who will fight for those laws. They remind us that our votes matter.

Tom McClintock has spent his time in Congress fighting against the laws and policies we need to build better lives. McClintock is selling us out, one vote at a time. This is one of the many reasons we oppose Tom McClintock. California’s Fourth District, and this country, deserve better.
