Tom McClintock’s position is clear. While he won’t be voting on the President’s nominee to fill one of only nine seats on the highest Court of the land, he fully supports the President’s choice. And that reflects a profound lack of judgment and character that should disqualify McClintock from representing us.
On Thursday, much of the Nation watched as a dignified, calm, sometimes tearful woman told her story of sexual assault. We watched as she shared the pain she has suffered for decades with the Senators, staff and reporters in the room, and with the millions of people across the country who wanted to understand her accusations against the man appointed to fill one of nine seats on the highest Court of the land. And then we watched Judge Kavanaugh. We watched him evade questions. We watched him treat the Senators who questioned him with astounding disrespect, throwing their questions back in their faces and interrupting them repeatedly. We watched as he spouted a conspiracy theory, claiming in sworn testimony that he was the victim of a coordinated attack by the Clintons and anti-Trump politicians and activists – although he could not offer a shred of evidence to support his blatant speculation – demanding that we pity him instead of the woman who described an attack that had changed her life. We watched him rage at the people who will decide whether he should be given the honor of serving as a Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court for the next two or three decades. But our Congressman doesn’t see it that way. He has accused Dr. Ford of lying and demeaned the FBI’s ability to investigate her claims. Tom McClintock sees no reason to try to determine whether Judge Kavanaugh committed sexual assault as a teen and has lied repeatedly about it. He just follows along, wherever this President may lead him.
Tom McClintock has shown time and again that he doesn’t respect the women he is supposed to serve. McClintock is selling us out, one vote at a time. This is one of the many reasons we oppose Tom McClintock. California’s Fourth District, and this country, deserve better.
