The GOP Is Creating Rotten Jobs

Tom McClintock likes to talk about the Nation’s economy. Like so many other Republicans, he falsely claims that Trump turned around a bad economy. But as this article shows, the GOP’s economy is rotten for too many people.

Trump inherited a booming, successful economy. After a bruising recession, the unemployment rate finally was back to less than 5%. More jobs were being created, the stock market was rising steadily, and wages finally were going up. Most people’s lives were much better than they were when Obama took office eight years earlier. And importantly, following decades of steady deterioration, the quality of jobs finally was going up too.

Now, though, the quality of jobs is declining again. As this article explains, the jobs being created “are increasingly low-quality jobs.” And so wages are stagnant, and many, many people can’t find good jobs.

This is what the GOP does for you. This is what Tom McClintock does for you. Trump and the Republicans decided to squander your taxpayer dollars on a massive giveaway to the wealthy. They gave some of us small, temporary tax cuts, while the 1% got massive, permanent cuts. Instead of an infrastructure bill that would have created good jobs across the country — increasing wages everywhere, as workers took those jobs and employers were forced to raise wages to compete for talent — the GOP chose to pay back their wealthy donors. And Tom McClintock has told us, loudly and clearly, that he’ll do the same thing if we make the mistake of reelecting him.

California’s 4th District deserves better. We deserve a representative who sees our challenges with clear eyes and takes meaningful action to fix them. We deserve a representative who truly cares about what happens in this District. We deserve a representative who will fight for us.

Join us, as we fight to send Tom McClintock back to his own District, and to finally stop him from selling us out, one vote at a time.

Because we know, as Margaret Mead said, that “a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world. Indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”
