Joel serves as Principal at Community Engagement Solutions, designing culturally pluralistic organizing strategies to build the political muscle of marginalized communities. Prior to CES, Joel served as For our Future’s Field Director in Nevada, National Regional Director at Enroll America, Senior Consultant with the California State Assembly Speaker’s Office, Regional Field Director in Florida with President Obama’s 2012 reelection campaign and a Field Organizer in Nevada with President Obama’s 2008 campaign. In 2007, Joel interned in the office of Congresswoman Barbara Lee through the Leon and Sylvia Panetta Institute.
Joel holds a B.A from San Jose State University in Political Science and African American Studies. At San Jose State, Joel embraced the spirit of student activism serving in leadership roles on campus, founding the Iota Shadow Day college tour program for underresourced youth and serving as an Academic Coach at James Lick High School.
Originally from Richmond, California, Joel resides in Washington, DC.
