Life Without the ACA

As the midterm approaches, the lies from the right multiply exponentially. Across the Nation, GOP politicians are promising that they will protect the ACA’s pre-existing coverage, even as those same politicians fight to destroy that coverage through litigation.

Tom McClintock is fully committed to destroying the ACA and returning us to a time when Americans were on their own in negotiating with insurance companies. He has referred to pre-existing conditions as “nuisances” and ignores the impact on people’s lives of being forced to find insurance wherever they can, whatever it takes. This article by noted writer Kurt Eichenwald discusses the impact on his life of being forced to make career decisions based on which company would provide coverage for his intractable epilepsy. He squandered years of his life doing work far below his talent and experience, and spent decades limited in his job options, because this country had failed, time and again, to enact legislation that would solve some of the problems in our broken health insurance system. He is one of millions of people across the country who worked low wage or dead-end jobs because of a pre-existing condition. And he is terrified of the possibility that the GOP will succeed, and the ACA be gutted. Yet, this is the world Tom McClintock is working to restore.

Tom McClintock has never fought for the policies that matter to his constituents. McClintock is selling us out, one vote at a time. This is one of the many reasons we oppose Tom McClintock. California’s Fourth District, and this country, deserve better.
