Birth control options

The Trump Administration seems determined to increase the abortion rate in the U.S.

Time and again, the Administration’s decisions have made it harder for women to access affordable healthcare – and make their own decisions about their bodies, and their lives. Whether it’s the GOP’s constant attacks on Planned Parenthood, the Administration’s Rule change late last year that allows employers to drop birth control coverage from insurance plans, or its moves to defund research into teen pregnancies, the Administration’s policy choices will lead to more unplanned pregnancies, and more abortions. And they’re not done yet. Now, they are changing the priorities for Title X, the program that helps low income women access affordable contraceptives. Instead of continuing to fully support a program that has been proven to reduce the number of unplanned pregnancies, the Administration will focus on natural family planning – the rhythm method, tracking periods and taking temperatures. These methods always are unreliable, and it is foolhardy to assume that it will be any different this time. The progress made in recent years reducing the rate of unplanned pregnancies will be lost, and the abortion rate again will increase.

Tom McClintock supports this Administration’s reckless policies.  This is one of the many reasons we oppose Tom McClintock.  California’s Fourth District, and this country, deserve better.

Trump’s new Title X plan requires ineffective birth control most women don’t want
